Abstract
Food security which is the most fundamental ingredient for sound human health and well-being has been losing ground globally over the years, as more and more people go to bed on an empty stomach night in, night out. This phenomenon simply means that food insecurity has steadily been
assuming wider spectrums of geographical scope. This paper using documentary sources of journal articles, conference papers, textbooks and field observation as a basis for analysis, examines food security under perspectives of issues that pose threats to it such as
conflicts/terrorism, corruption in high places, technological deficiencies and climate change among others like natural increase in population and poverty. The paper suggests such measures as amicable resolution of conflicts, end to global terrorism, harsh punitive measures for corruption, technological advancement in agricultural mechanization, improving rural based infrastructure, combating climate change and offer of agricultural incentives as sound measures for boosting food security in Benue State and the country at large.
